I am a graduate of a reputable university (Multimedia University of Kenya) where I studied Mathematics and Computer Science. During my time in school, I was actively involved in the school computer information technology club where I volunteered as a coach for upcoming website developers. My passion for coaching and mentoring upcoming developers is evidenced by my dedication to the club, and commitment to nurturing talent in the technology space.
As a software developer, I am highly proficient in using various programming languages and software development tools. My primary focus, however, is on JavaScript, and I have a deep understanding of its core concepts, including front-end and back-end development, API integration, and database management.
Over the years, I have worked on several projects, including developing custom websites and web applications for various clients. 👉️2019: I discovered freecodecamp.org and began learning web development skills through their platform.
👉️2020: I completed the Responsive Web Design certification on freecodecamp.org, which covered topics such as HTML, CSS, and responsive design.
👉️2021: I continued to work on freecodecamp.org, completing the JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures certification, which covered topics such as algorithms, data structures, and ES6 syntax.
👉️2022: I began working on the Front End Libraries certification on freecodecamp.org, which covers topics such as React, Redux, and Sass.
👉️2023: I have been actively working on this certification and plan to complete it by the end of the year. Overall, my experience with freecodecamp.org has been invaluable in developing my web development skills and keeping up with industry trends. I plan to continue using this platform to further my education and advance my career.
Participation as a Co-Lead Computer Information Technology Club and Hackathon Awards
👉️2018: During my first year at campus, I joined the Computer Information Technology (CIT) club as a member. I quickly became involved in planning and organizing club events and activities.
👉️2019: In my second year, I was elected as a co-lead of the CIT club. Along with my fellow co-lead, I helped to plan and organize weekly meetings, guest speaker events, and technology workshops for club members.
👉️2020: I participated in a hackathon event hosted by iHub, a technology and innovation hub in Nairobi, Kenya. The event focused on developing innovative solutions to challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region. My team developed a mobile app prototype that provides SMEs with real-time market data and analytics to help them make informed business decisions.
👉️2021: I co-led the CIT club in organizing a hackathon event on campus. The event brought together students from different disciplines to collaborate on innovative solutions using technology. My role involved planning and organizing the event, securing sponsorships, and coordinating with judges and mentors.
👉️2022: I participated in another hackathon event hosted by iHub. The event focused on developing solutions for the healthcare industry. My team developed a web-based platform that streamlines patient record-keeping and improves the efficiency of healthcare services.My involvement in the CIT club and participation in hackathon events at iHub were instrumental in developing my leadership, teamwork, and technical skills. I am grateful for the opportunities I had during my four years at campus, and I look forward to continuing to be involved in the technology and innovation community.
